Two suspects were arrested after fleeing a single-vehicle collision in Clarington.
On January 23, 2026 at approximately 3:10 a.m., officers responded to a check-on-well-being call after a vehicle was located in a ditch. The K9 Unit arrived on scene and determined that the vehicle was stolen. With the assistance of officers from East Division, K9 tracked two individuals to a commercial building in Clarington, where they were arrested. During the search of the vehicle, officers seized a large quantity of stolen cigarettes, lottery tickets, point-of-sale terminals and break-and-enter tools.
Through further investigation, it was determined that the suspects were connected to two commercial break-and-enters in the immediate area, prior to the collision. Investigators have since charged the suspects in relation to five commercial break-and-enters across the region.
Brandon Haynes, age 31 from Clarington, is charged with break and enter non-dwelling commit x5, possess property obtained by crime over $5000 x2, possess property obtained by crime under $5000 x2, disguise with intent x4, fraud under $5000, obstruct peace officer, theft of motor vehicle and fail to comply probation x14.
Michael Winn, age 59 from Oshawa is charged with break and enter non-dwelling commit x4, possess property obtained by crime over $5000 x2, possess property obtained by crime under $5000, disguise with intent x4, theft of motor vehicle and fail to comply probation x6.
At the time of their arrest, both males were violating probation orders.
Both were held for a bail hearing.
