Ontario Provincial Police are reminding residents to not throw their unwanted snow onto the roads.
Shovelling, plowing or blowing snow onto the road is illegal under the Highway Traffic Safety Act with fines ranging from $60 to $1000.
Snow deposited in the road can create numerous hazards for motorists, including blocked sight lines or icy surfaces, along with interfering with snowplow operations.
While OPP recognize that as snow builds up it can be hard to find space for it all, dumping it into the road is not a good solution.
