Winter has taken hold of the region in an iron grip, as Environment Canada has issued multiple alerts for the Quinte region.
A cold warning is in effect, due to severe low temperatures. Temperatures could feel like minus 30 or lower when factoring wind chill. Residents are being warned to keep themselves and their pets inside to avoid hypothermia and frostbite. Workers who are required to handle outdoor jobs are advised to take regular breaks indoors to warm up.
A special weather statement has also been issued, regarding expected snowfall later this weekend.
Environment Canada is calling for between 10 and 20cm of snow on Sunday.
Snowfall is expected to begin in the morning, and last until Sunday evening.
Drivers are warned of potential low visibility conditions, due to a combination of snowfall and blowing snow.
