A 72-year-old man has been charged after an assault while ice fishing along Chemong Lake.
Peterborough County OPP were dispatched to Chemong Lake in Selwyn Township just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday where an individual reported being assaulted while ice fishing.
The complainant told police that the accused came up to them in an aggressive manner while they were fishing.
According to police, the complainant stated the accused was upset that they were fishing close to where they were and as a result, he assaulted them.
Officers arrived on scene and after speaking with all parties, one person was arrested.
Michael Armstrong of Ennismore, ON., was arrested and charged with assault.
The accused is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 24, 2026.
