Numbers are still being tallied, but it looks like another incredible year for the annual Trenton Dragon Boat Festival.
Trenton Rowing and Paddling Club, along the Trent River, hosted the races, which are part of the annual Festival on the Bay.
Organizer Tiffany Dranski tells Quinte News it was a great event, with the most teams ever.
Audio Player“We couldn’t have asked for better weather, we had a bit of wind in the afternoon. The teams looked like they had so much fun. Lots of smiles, lots of laughing. Gold place winner was our Brighton crew, they seem to be holding that spot for a long time.”
Brighton Dragon Boat Club Stryder came first.
Dranski adds the event is always a balance of competitive athletes and fundraising.
Audio Player“We will always have those competitive edges, the ones who always want those medals and I’m okay with that. I think having a bit of a competitive edge gives the day a little bit of a vibe. Deep down I know that all the teams that came knew why they were there. They were raising money for our Strong Kids Campaign.“
All the money raised supports the YMCA of Central East Ontario Strong Kids Campaign.
The funds are still being counted, however, it is expected to surpass $8,000.
