Quinte West City Council approved a request to have a mural be completed on the Centre Cinemas building showcasing Hollywood North (1917 to approximately 1935).
As part of the approval, council also asked that a sketch of the mural be sent to the CAO and distributed to council members.
In a letter to council, Manager of Centre Cinemas, Jake Jackman, says that the mural would be completed by Christopher Bennett with Serna Custom Artwork.
The mural itself, a tribute to Hollywood North, is described as depicting buildings of the era and films made during that time, with possible signatures from film posters used during this era as well.
The hope is to have work on the mural begin in early September with a timeline of 30 days from the starting date.
In February, Quinte News reported thatĀ Film.Ca Entertainment CorporationĀ had purchased 120 Dundas Street West.
The company launched an Indiegogo campaign to help pay for the mural.
The building turns 100 years old this year.
