Quinte West City Council approved a recommendation to waive development fees for Hospice Quinte’s Stan Klemencic Care Centre expansion project.
The fees waived would total $37,468, including over $30,000 in development charges, a site plan control fee of $2,368 and a building permit fee of $5,100.
Hospice Quinte is looking to build a four-bed expansion at their existing facility on Old Highway 2.
Council had directed city staff in its June 18 meeting to prepare a report in response to a request from Hospice Quinte regarding the waiving of city development fees.
Staff reviewed the proposal and confirmed that the proposed four-bed expansion will not require any additional land from the city.
The expansion will not interfere with, or impact, the portion of the site reserved for the future fire hall.
Money will now come from the city’s housing reserve, however, funds could be drawn from the social services reserve, which currently holds approximately $750,000.
