The City of Quinte West is sending a delegation to the 2025 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference which will take place in Ottawa from August 17 to 20.
The annual AMO Conference provides Ontario municipalities with the opportunity to discuss local concerns directly with provincial government officials.
Quinte West Council and senior staff will meet with provincial leaders to advocate for the city’s major projects having secured delegations with four key ministries:
- Ministry of Finance – city representatives will address local concerns about the lost municipal revenue under Payments in Lieu of Taxes, and call for a review of the current framework to ensure fairness and sustainability for municipalities.
- Ministry of Health – city representatives will highlight the shortage of primary healthcare resources in Quinte West, and advocate for provincial action to expand healthcare access and services for residents.
- Ministry of Infrastructure – city representatives will discuss the city’s funding application under the Health and Safety Water Stream. The application outlines the need for additional water storage and proposes a new pumping station to support growth and provide enhanced fire flows in the west end of Trenton.
- Ministry of Sport – city representatives will advocate for funding through the province’s Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund for recreation projects that support local tourism and waterfront revitalization.
