Environmental excellence award for Trent Port Marina

Boating Ontario’s Clean Marine program has awarded the marina Diamond Elite Certification – the program’s highest eco-rating.

Marinas achieve Clean Marine certification by demonstrating a commitment to environmental best practices.

Trent Port Marina has implemented several new initiatives to protect the natural environment and reduce its ecological footprint, including installing a gas can containment device to reduce the risk of potential spills at the marina’s fueling station, eliminating the use of herbicides to control aquatic weed growth and adopting paperless practices for most administrative procedures.

“Being recognized as a top-rated marina through Boating Ontario’s Clean Marine program is a milestone achievement for our marina and our staff,” says Jaclyn Grimmon, Director of Community Services and Strategic Partnerships. “I commend Trent Port Marina staff for the important work they’ve done and continue to do to promote environmental stewardship.”

Trent Port Marina is one of 32 marinas to receive the Diamond Elite designation.

It has held a gold designation since 2022.
