MP Chris Malette is one of 10 Members of Parliament who have been appointed to the Standing Committee on National Defence.
The committee is responsible for studying legislation and examining topics and issues related to our military, its bases, and our national and international operations.
The House of Commons Standing Committee on National Defence has a mandate to review all matters pertaining to the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces – as referred by the House of Commons, or undertaken on the committee’s own initiative.
With CFB Trenton, Canada’s largest air force base, located in the Bay of Quinte, MP Malette has National Defence high on his priority list.
He will be focused on bringing forth the voices of the 5,000+ stationed members, and civilian staff located at 8 Wing, to Ottawa.
In the current global landscape, our military operations are vital. MP Malette is looking forward to representing the Bay of Quinte at the committee table and advocating for all serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces in our riding, and across Canada.
“My appointment to the Standing Committee on National Defence is an honour and a privilege. I look forward to representing our military members here in the Bay of Quinte and across Canada. I am eager to work collaboratively with Minister David McGuinty and my fellow MP colleagues and staff on the important work that lies ahead of us.”
