The City of Belleville will receive just over $801,000 for almost reaching its new housing start target for last year.
The money will come from the provincial government’s Building Faster Fund.
Although the city’s figures are much higher, the province has determined that 250 new residential units were started in 2024, just short of the 258 starts target.
The province grants extra funding to those municipalities that meet at least 80 per cent of their target in any given year.
In 2023, Belleville had a target of 227 housing starts and completed 553 receiving almost $1.25 million from the provincial government.
