Brighton council is expected to take another step toward making the community’s first hotel a reality at its meeting Monday evening.
Staff is asking that zoning be changed for land at 139 Elizabeth Street to allow an over-46,000 square foot six-storey hotel to be built on the property.
The current zoning will only allow a hotel to a maximum of four storeys.
The developer intends to build a TRU Hilton Hotel on the site just west of the No Frills store that would feature 85 guest rooms, amenities, a pool, and a dining area.
Brighton council meets at 6:30 this evening in council chambers.
