Prince Edward County Mayor Steve Ferguson has issued two mayoral decisions under Part VI.1 of the Municipal Act, also known as strong mayor powers.
One decision sees matters regarding employment being delegated to the Chief Administrative Officer.
This would include the powers to hire, dismiss, or exercise any other prescribed powers with respect to any division or the head of any other part of the organizational structure.
The other decision is to provide written notice of the approval of by-laws from council’s meeting on May 13.
Prince Edward County was one of 169 municipalities that recently received access to strong mayor powers under the municipal act.
