UPDATE:
Quinte West OPP confirm that a vehicle that caught fire on the eastbound Highway 401 this morning had been stolen from Durham Region.
Quinte West Fire along with OPP responded to a vehicle fully engulfed in flames on the eastbound shoulder of the highway near the Trenton OnRoute around 7:15 a.m.
There were no individuals in the vehicle or at the scene.
Police continue to investigate.
Anyone with information about the stolen vehicle is asked to contact Durham Regional Police.

We are still learning about an investigation surrounding a vehicle fire on Highway 401 Thursday morning.
Around 7 a.m., Quinte West Fire and OPP responded to the westbound 401, just west of Trenton near the OnRoute.
A vehicle was destroyed by fire.
The blaze also stifled traffic while crews fought the flames.
The vehicle was stolen from the Durham region and no one was with the vehicle when crews got on scene.
Traffic is moving once again.
