Outdoor burning is not recommended today.
There have been reports of local fire departments responding to multiple grass and brush fires this windy afternoon.
Among them, Quinte West Fire crews were called to a grass fire on Joseph Road where flames were burning along a farmer’s fence line.
Quinte West also responded to a grass fire earlier Friday afternoon on Maybee Road.
Fire Chief John Whelan says in both cases the property owners had permits but the fires took off because of the wind.
He suggests burning should be conducted in the morning when there is less wind.
