Former county warden and councillor representing Wellington, Jim Dunlop, was awarded a Civic Recognition Certificate during Tuesday’s council meeting in honour of his long years of service to Prince Edward County.
Dunlop served as warden during the final term before amalgamation, and afterwards served three terms on council.
Since then, he has remained an active member of the community by coaching children’s soccer and hockey, along with working at the forefront of fundraisers for causes including the Back the Build campaign to build a new hospital in the county.
Dunlop accepted the award in the council chambers of Shire Hall, which was packed with his family and friends.
