Hastings County has announced they will be taking part in the fourth nationally coordinated Point-in-Time (PiT) Homeless Count.
The count will take place on October 7 when Hastings County will target both sheltered and unsheltered locations with the goal of determining the number of homeless individuals on that specific date.
In a release, the county says the “snapshot” of homelessness will indicate the minimum number of people experiencing homelessness in the community while also giving important demographics of people experiencing or who are at risk of homelessness.
A survey will be released that will allow for more detailed information to be gathered from those experiencing homelessness, including demographics related to age, gender, ethnicity, and veteran status.
That survey will be circulated from October 7 to November 7.
