The City of Belleville and the company behind Hawkins Cheezies have agreed on an extension of a previous agreement to bring a new plant to the city’s Industrial Park.
Approved during council’s meeting on Monday, W.T. Hawkins Inc. and the city had initially agreed on a new plant being built by March 30, 2024 back in 2021.
The extension allows for the plant to now be built by March 30, 2027.
According to the agreement, the new plant is not to be less than 51,250 square feet with the city having the right to repurchase the land if the timeline is not met.
Hawkins Cheezies recently celebrated its 75th anniversary.
