Northumberland OPP have laid impaired driving charges against motorists involved in two separate collisions over the last few days.
There was a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 east in Port Hope around 7:35 a.m. Thursday morning.
Two occupants of one of the vehicles were treated in hospital for minor injuries.
Police investigation revealed the driver of the other vehicle was impaired.
Joseph Barrett, 31 years old, from Cobourg, has been charged with:
– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
– Dangerous operation.
All three lanes of the highway were closed from approximately 8:35 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. for the investigation and removal of involved vehicles.
On Tuesday night there was a single-vehicle collision in Alnwick-Haldimand Township.
Police responded to the vicinity of Rolling Banks Road and Robins Road where they located a vehicle in the ditch.
There were no injuries but the driver, 64-year-old Graham Halsey of Oshawa, has been charged with:
– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
– Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
– Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage.
A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
Both accused are due to appear in court at a future date.
