A dog has been seized and a 61-year-old man charged with assault following an incident in Cobourg on the weekend.
Just after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Cobourg police responded to the area of Densmore Road and Division Street where a woman had allegedly been attacked by a dog, receiving what appeared to be several dog bite wounds.
Police investigation determined there was an altercation between the woman and a man at a residence.
The woman left the residence and was bitten by the man’s dog after he allegedly directed the animal to attack her.
The woman was treated for her injuries in hospital.
Robert Thomas of Cobourg is charged with assault, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
The dog was seized pursuant to the Dog Owners Liability Act.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on August 14.
