Drug trafficking charges have been laid against two people following a traffic stop in Marmora and Lake.
Central Hastings OPP conducted a traffic stop on a rental car Wednesday around 6:30 p.m. on Highway 7.
Officers saw cannabis in the area of the driver, resulting in a search of the vehicle.
Crack cocaine, cannabis over $3500 in cash and multiple cell phones were seized.
Sydney Bunkuna, age 25 of North York, has been charged with:
Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – two counts
Fail to comply with a probation order
The accused was held for a bail hearing in Belleville on Thursday.
Jayanne Saunders, age 19 of Scarborough, is charged with:
Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
Driving while under suspension
Drive a vehicle with cannabis readily available
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville June 24.
