Belleville police have laid a second degree murder charge in a homicide investigation at a home on Hastings Park Drive.
Police had arrested 30-year-old Tyler Donnelly of Belleville for first degree murder after locating him and a deceased 26-year-old woman inside the home on Tuesday.
The man had not been formally charged with first degree murder and after a continued investigation by the Criminal Investigative Division, a charge of second degree murder was laid against the accused.
It is the lone charge before the court.
The victim has been identified by police as Shannan Leigh Hickey of Belleville.
The accused was held in police custody at Kingston General Hospital after receiving medical treatment for lacerations on his wrists.
Police also revealed that the accused and victim were in a previous intimate partner relationship but had remained living in the same residence.
