Belleville police responded to 97 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on May 9, 2024 to 5 a.m. on May 10, 2024.
Continuously causing issues at the hospital
A 68-year-old Belleville man who caused issues for local paramedics and medical staff at the Belleville hospital over the past several weeks was arrested earlier this week. Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Thursday, police received a call from the local paramedic dispatching centre advising that staff were having issues with a would-be patient who was currently at Belleville General Hospital. On Thursday alone, the male – who was highly intoxicated – called for an ambulance three times. When transported to the hospital, the individual became belligerent with staff and left the location. According to hospital staff and paramedics, this pattern of behaviour had been ongoing for several days this month. Officers arrived and found the male was on conditions not to consume alcohol. He was arrested and held for a bail hearing Friday.
Break and enter in the east end
Officers were called to an east end community after several tools were stolen from a garage earlier this week. Shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to a home on Southview Avenue. The resident reported his garage had been entered by unknown suspects and a number of items were missing. Stolen from the property were a Radley electric lawn mower with battery, Black and Decker leaf blower and a Black and Decker weed trimmer. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 613-969-8477.
