Quinte Arts Council is requesting community participation for a memorial project as part of Bay of Quinte Pride celebrations.
As part of the celebration for Bay of Quinte Pride, Quinte Arts Council, in collaboration with local artist Luisé Cisneros, intends to honour 2SLGBTQ+ community members who have passed away. Bay of Quinte community members are invited to bring a photograph of their loved ones to be part of an art installation that honours the memory of the people who are no longer with us. The photographs will be part of an ofrenda, a traditional Mexican altar that commemorates and celebrates friends and family members who have died.
This art installation is a way for the Bay of Quinte Community to pay respect and remember those we have lost and also remind us that there is still work to be done for 2SLGBTQ+ rights.
The installation will be in place at the Quinte Arts Council Cultural Hub, 36 Bridge St. East, Belleville, ON from June 6 to July 12.
This installation is brought to the community through a partnership with the City of Belleville.
