Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation celebrated its volunteers with its first-ever appreciation event on Monday.
Held at Trinity-St. Andrew’s Church in Brighton, the foundation’s volunteers were recognized for their contributions to support the vital work of Trenton Memorial Hospital.
The guest speaker was Stacey Daub, President & CEO of Quinte Health, who thanked the volunteers for their commitment stating, “[Without volunteers] we wouldn’t have functioning hospitals, we wouldn’t have equipment, we wouldn’t have the facilities, and in fact we wouldn’t have a lot of the friendships that have been developed.”
“We cannot do what we do without our volunteers, which is you,” said Tina Furmidge, Board Chair of the TMHF.
The sentiment was echoed by Arlene LaRosa, TMHF board member and TMH Auxiliary president who shared, “Being a volunteer at Trenton Memorial Hospital is the most fulfilling thing I think I have ever done in all my years.”
Jennifer Rainbird, a long-term dedicated volunteer at TMHF, said, “I am very passionate about healthcare in this community. Volunteering at TMHF has just been a joy. The community has been so supportive.”
The event was held in recognition of National Volunteer Week (NVW) in Canada, which runs from April 14 to 20.
The theme for this year’s NVW is “Every Moment Matters,” which highlights the importance of every volunteer and the contributions they make to their communities.
