The Royal Canadian Air Force’s 100th anniversary is being celebrated Sunday along with the military’s relationship with Quinte West.
A veterans parade is being held, followed by a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall.
Quinte West will also bestow the honour of the Freedom of the City to the RCAF.
413 Wing Chair Jo-Anne Peckham says Freedom of the City is granted to a unit which has enjoyed a long and happy relationship with a city.
The mayor will then present a certificate and key to the city.
Peckham says the event arose out of a challenge from the national office to find ways to make the anniversary a special part of the community.
The parade will leave Centennial Park around 10 a.m. Sunday, April 7 and make a brief stop at Fraser Park before continuing to City Hall for the ceremony.
