Lower Trent Conservation (LTC) is looking for nature enthusiasts to join its Volunteer Trail Steward Program.
The new initiative aims to preserve and maintain the integrity of LTC’s ten conservation areas, helping maintain safe passage for hikers, bikers and wildlife alike.
Volunteers will be asked to clear minor debris, small branches, and report significant issues to staff.
“Volunteers bring not just their time, but their passion and care, nurturing these spaces for wildlife and people alike. Every volunteer makes a real and lasting difference, and we’re grateful for every ounce of support they bring,” says Chris McLeod, Conservation Lands Supervisor.” Being a trail steward goes beyond simply doing the work. It’s about building connections with the land, with fellow volunteers and with nature. Together, we have the power to safeguard our natural surroundings, ensuring they remain vibrant for generations to come.”
LTC is hosting two information sessions about the Trail Steward Volunteer Program at the Goodrich Loomis Conservation Area on Thursday, April 11 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and April 13 from 10 a.m to 12:30 p.m.
