The Belleville Senators are facing another critical weekend as they play the rival Rocket in Laval tonight (Friday) and tomorrow.
The numbers lay it all out.
The top five teams in the AHL North advance to the Calder Cup playoffs.
Laval is in fifth place, two points ahead of sixth place Belleville with ten games left in the regular season.
The Rocket have won the last four head-to-head meetings including a two-game sweep at the CAA Arena last weekend.
Four of the B-Sens’ final ten games are against Laval including a home at home to close out the regular campaign.
Golden Hawks going for the sweep
A year ago the Trenton Golden Hawks led the Toronto Junior Canadiens three games to nothing in the second round of the OJHL playoffs.
The Junior Canadiens stormed back in that series to force Trenton to overtime in Game 7 before the G-Hawks finally prevailed.
Fast forward one year and these teams meet again in Round 2. And again Trenton leads three games to nothing with game 4 tonight (Friday) in Toronto.
Golden Hawks head coach Derek Smith will use that piece of history for additional motivation.
If Game 5 is necessary it will be Saturday night at 7:30 in Trenton.
Raiders home for Game 2
In Junior C playdowns, the Napanee Raiders host the Port Hope Panthers at the Strathcona Paper Centre at 7:30 on Friday. Napanee leads the East Tod Division final 1-0.
