The Belleville Sens defeated the Bridgeport Islanders 4-2 on Saturday night.
Garrett Pilon and Egor Sokolov scored for the Senators.
The Senators opened scoring in under five minutes of play while keeping the Islanders from scoring at all in the first frame. Just seconds into the second they claimed another goal, making their lead 2-0. While the Islanders would come back to grab their first of the night, the Sens grabbed a third goal to keep a two-point lead going into the final period. During the third, the Islanders snuck in a second goal, but the Senators countered with their fourth of the night, holding on to their lead to win the game.
Belleville Sens Assistant Coach Nate McIver said that the team’s next few games are vitally important.
“It definitely wasn’t a good start for us and that’s two nights in a row, but I thought we responded,” said McIver. “We scored a big power play goal in the first and I thought we came out and played better in the second, then in the third we locked it down.”
The Senators continue their home stand on Friday against the Laval Rocket.
