The National Air Force Museum of Canada is bringing a space-themed event for Family Day.
Off the heels of its Top Gun themed event last year, the museum is calling on young astronauts for a space discovery mission.
“We’re looking for youth of all ages to come join us on Family Day from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. to participate in our space discovery sessions,” Marketing and Communication Administrator for the National Air Force Museum of Canada, Hailey Graham tells Quinte News.
“We’ll have a variety of hands-on programming tables throughout the museum so kids can interact with different things. They’ll be able to design their own mission patch, successfully land on the moon and our lunar lander drop zone, traverse through the intergalactic obstacle course, successfully complete their Mars rover mission and much more.”
Graham says there will also be local community groups in attendance as well as guests from “out of this world.”
“It’s always a really busy day for us,” Graham said.
“We suggest that people come right on time, but it’s okay, if you can’t make it then because activities are ongoing. So you can spend the day with your family however you’d like at the museum. It’s very open-ended.”
Each Family Day event from the National Air Force Museum of Canada is a different theme.
Graham says space was the most topical for this year.
“Space is something that’s ever evolving,” Graham tells Quinte News.
“We just had 3 Canadian Space Division open up recently within the RCAF so it was such an inspired topic this year.”
Around 2000 people are expected to take part in the event on Monday.
