On January 31, 2024 between 5:13 p.m. and 8:50 p.m., police responded to four separate calls for service involving reported overdoses. In total, five people had overdosed.
At 5:13 p.m., police and EMS attended a location in the downtown core for the reports of a 44-year-old male who had overdosed. He was transported to Belleville General Hospital by EMS for treatment.
At 5:26 p.m., police and EMS responded to a 32-year-old female who had overdosed while in the downtown core. The female was transported to Belleville General Hospital by EMS for treatment.
At 6:19 p.m., police, fire and EMS responded to the downtown core for the reports of a 26-year-old male who had overdosed. The male was transported to Belleville General Hospital by EMS for treatment.
At 8:50 p.m.., police, fire and EMS responded to the downtown core for the reports of two females that had overdosed. The females were 39 and 36 years old. Upon being seen by EMS, both females declined further medical attention.
Belleville Police Service reminds anyone using drugs to not use them while alone, refrain from mixing drugs, try a small amount first to reduce the risk of drug poisoning and always have at least one naloxone kit nearby.
