The following was submitted by Lennox & Addington OPP.
Officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) OPP removed four drivers from the road on Christmas Eve.
On December 24, 2023, at approximately 0:30 a.m., L&A OPP had just started their holiday RIDE program on Centre Street,in Napanee. One of the first few vehicles stopped by police, a 29-year -old male from Kingston received an alert on the Approved Screening Device (ASD) and received a three day licence suspension.
At approximately 1 a.m. at the same RIDE program, police stopped a vehicle and the lone male driver received a fail reading on the ASD. The male was arrested and brought back to the police detachment for further testing.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged Matthew Grant, age 31, of Greater Napanee with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on January 23, 2024. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
At approximately 11:18 a.m., police were called to a report of an intoxicated female trying to get into a residence. When police arrived they located the female in a parked vehicle. The female received a fail reading on the ASD. The female was arrested and brought back to the police detachment for further testing.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged Kayla King, age 36, of Amherstview, Ontario, with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs< /span>
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on January 16, 2024. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
At approximately 1:14 p.m., police were called to a report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 401 west by County Road 6. When police arrived, Paramedic Services and Loyalist Fire Department were already on scene. A male driver from one of the vehicles was arrested for impaired driving and brought back to the police detachment for further testing. The people in the other vehicle were not injured in the collision.
As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP have charged Lucas Adam, age 29, of Kingston, Ontario, with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
- Assault
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on January 23, 2024. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
