A few days off at Christmas served the Belleville Senators well.
Despite an early 1-0 deficit the B-Sens bounced back to beat the Toronto Marlies 4-2 with more than 12,000 on hand at Scotiabank Arena.
The win comes just four days after a 4-3 win by Belleville over Toronto at CAA Arena.
Zack Ostapchuk’s second of the game (7th & 8th) midway in the third stood as the winner.
Goaltender Kevin Mandolese stopped 29 shots for his fourth win in five outings. He said Belleville simply used the KISS principle in this one.
Matt Highmore (4th) and Roby Jarventie (6th-EN) also scored for the B-Sens.
Belleville leads the AHL version of the Battle of Ontario with a 3-0-0-1 record.
Belleville is in fifth place in the AHL North, one point behind Rochester. They host Laval Thursday night (7 p.m.) before entertaining the Marlies again on Saturday at 4 p.m.
