WK Kellogg Company is staying in Battle Creek, Michigan, however, there will be no changes at the company’s Belleville plant.
The Detroit News reports that the Michigan Economic Development Corporation approved a “renaissance zone” for WK Kellogg Company.
That designation will give the cereal maker a $1.27 million tax break in exchange for a minimum $44 million investment in its existing facility.
That deal means the Battle Creek plant will retain 170 jobs and add 43 new ones.
Previously, the company had been considering moving the jobs to the Belleville plant because of lower production costs.
The Belleville plant will continue to operate as is.
A spokesperson for WK Kellogg tells Quinte News that while the shift in production from Battle Creek to Belleville is cancelled, the company will use both plants to meet the needs of the business and continue to assess what production could be shifted to Belleville in line with their plans to modernize and consolidate their manufacturing network.
