The World Junior A Challenge is going to have lots of names connected to the Bay of Quinte region.
Hockey Canada announced the roster and staff for Team Canada East, who will compete against the world December 10 to 17.
Selected to Canada East is Belleville’s Trevor Hoskin, who plays for the Cobourg Cougars.
He is coming off an MVP selection at the Eastern Canada Cup in Trenton last month and he says that was a great audition.
“I am super excited. Every kid dreams of an opportunity to play and represent their country. It was a super good experience at Eastern Canada Cup and can’t wait to get down.”
The former Quinte Red Devil says this will be his first international competition.
“I mean I expect to play a big role. I love the big moments and I’m looking forward to going out there and giving it all I got, trying to play a big role on this team.”
The Canisius University D-1 Commit says hard work has been a big part of his development.
“A lot of the off-ice stuff. Just trying to get one per cent better every day and trusting the process, trusting yourself and just working on your game every day. Sticking to it is the biggest thing.”
Trenton Golden Hawk Forward Taeo Artichuk was also named to the team.
