Additional charges have been laid in an ongoing sexual assault investigation in Brighton.
On Thursday, August 20, 2026, Northumberland OPP began an investigation following complaints regarding incidents at a tailoring business.
On Monday, August 24, 2026, an employee of the business was arrested and charged in relation to this investigation.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, additional victims were identified resulting in further charges.
On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, 53-year-0ld Jalil Ahmed of Cobourg was further charged and now faces a total of eight Criminal Code offences:
- Sexual assault – four counts
- Voyeurism – four counts
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
Investigators believe the accused has previous business connections in the Orillia and Collingwood areas.
