The Trenton Golden Hawks have maintained their one point lead atop the OJHL’s East Conference thanks to an 8-1 rout of the visiting Lindsay Muskies.
Barret Joynt scored four goals, giving him 15 on the season. He credits a fight midway in the second period.
Trenton scored six times including all four of Joynt’s goals after the fight. Owen Ireton added a pair.
Two weeks ago the G-Hawks hit a bump in the season losing three out of four games. They have won five games since. Joynt says a losing streak is not a bad thing.
The Golden Hawks outshot the Muskies 51-22. They’re home to St. Mikes on Friday night.
Markham 5 Wellington 2
The Markham Royals stayed hot on Trenton’s heals with a 5-2 victory over the Wellington Dukes. Markham scored all of their goals before the Dukes responded in the third period with goals by Ethan Quick (9th) and Connor Hunt (13th).
Wellington is in third place in the East. They’re in Pickering on Friday.

And in Junior C hockey, Gerrit Kempers scored a goal and assist to help the Picton Pirates dump the Amherstview Jets 3-1. Zack Brooks had two helpers.
