A milestone has been reached for the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital build, getting closer to shovels in the ground for the project.
Infrastructure Ontario announced on Thursday that four companies have been invited to respond to a request for proposals to deliver the new hospital build.
The new PECMH is being designed to meet the current and future needs of the community, with planned facilities including a 24/7 emergency department, diagnostic imaging, inpatient beds, and dialysis services. The planned design incorporates patient-centred design and technology, state-of-the-art infection control and ventilation, wider halls for modern medical equipment and larger more flexible rooms.
Bay of Quinte MPP Todd Smith was excited to see the project begin construction, announcing plans to begin building in 2024.
“I’ve been fully committed to this project throughout my 12 years at Queen’s Park, and I’m pleased to see that with Quinte Health’s leadership, our government’s unwavering support, and the enthusiastic participation of this community, this dream will be realized,” said MPP Smith.
The four companies invited to submit proposals were pre-qualified for the project based on an evaluation done in March.
