A new doctor will soon be working full-time at the Tri Area Medical Centre in Madoc.
Dr. Corli Barnes, close to finishing her medical studies, was introduced to Hastings County council Thursday.
Barnes said her decision to come to Hastings County was made easy because of its physician recruitment program.
“As it’s famously known, medical residents have a lot of debt, but the incentive that you are offering is allowing me to do what I’m truly passionate about. It’s made it possible for me to come to Madoc, move, and start up.”
Barnes has already been working under the supervision of doctors at the Madoc medical centre.
Dr. Barnes is the 22nd doctor recruited through Hastings County’s recruitment program, which offers medical graduates $150,000 over 5 years in return for a five-year committment to practise in the county.
