The unemployment rate for the Belleville Census Metropolitan Area fell in September, however it is still well above the the national number.
Last month’s rate for the area that includes Belleville, Quinte West, Stirling-Rawdon, and Tyendinaga/Deseronto dropped from 10.5 per cent to 9.8 per cent.
Nationally, Statistics Canada reports the unemployment rate held steady at 5.5 per cent.
The economy added 64,000 jobs last month, the majority of them part-time.
The provincial rate crept up a tenth of a point to six per cent.
