Building activity was down significantly in September in Belleville but Amazon is mostly to blame for that.
The city is reporting that 48 permits with a construction value of $4.48 million were issued last month.
There were 56 permits worth $142.4 million in September 2022 but a permit for the recently opened Amazon warehouse on College Street was issued that month at a value of $135 million.
Year-to-date construction in Belleville is up to $169.4 million, down from just over $286 million through the end of September last year.
