Bay of Quinte riding MP Ryan Williams is blaming the government’s policies for increased prices at grocery stores.
In a press release Wednesday Williams says the Liberal carbon tax has pushed food processors to lessen the amount of product in packages while charging the same or higher prices.
Williams says this “shrinkage” means people are paying more for less. Williams also says high government spending has just served to fuel the fire of inflation.
And Williams says everyday food items such as granola bars, and pre-prepared fruit and salad products are being taxed and shouldn’t be.
Williams says only items like chips and chocolate bars should be taxed but the government has expanded the products being taxed without consumers being made aware of what is and what is not subject to tax.
