The City of Quinte West has proclaimed the month of October as “Dress Purple Month.”
Formerly known as Child Abuse Prevention Month, the City of Quinte West will illuminate the Quinte West sign and the Veterans Skyway Bridge in the colour purple for the entire month of October.
Before the proclamation, council heard a delegation from Melanie Cressman, the Executive Director of the Children’s Foundation.
In her presentation, Cressman outlined how the foundation was supporting low-income and vulnerable children in the community.
She also showcases seven different programs implemented by the foundation that help to ensure that vulnerable children are cared for.
The presentation concluded with the Children’s Foundation’s plans to contribute for “Dress Purple Month.”
This includes the Kids Can’t Wait Radiothon where radio stations across the Quinte region, including 800 CJBQ, MIX 97 and ROCK 107, will accept donations that help support vulnerable youth in the community.
The Children’s Foundation will also be taking part in the Dress Purple Day hosted by the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies.
