A Quinte West man is facing a charge of child abandonment after police discovered a child left alone in a Cobourg motel room.
The incident happened last month.
Cobourg Police were called to the motel after receiving information that a child was left unattended in a room.
Police located a young child in a motel room with no parent or guardian on-site.
The child was transported to the hospital to be evaluated and placed in the care of Highland Shores Children’s Aid.
As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for the child’s father.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in October.
