Building activity in Quinte West was well down in August compared to a year earlier.
The municipality issued 52 permits with a construction value of $9.1 million last month, less than half of the total for August 2022 which was 105 permits worth just over $27 million.
Eighteen of last month’s permits were for new residential construction.
Year-to-date, Quinte West issued 105 new residential permits worth $46.5 million.
In all, that equals 213 new residential units – 79 single family dwellings, six semi-detached, 122 apartments and six townhouses.
Through the end of August, a total of 430 permits worth $104.5 million have been granted.
That is less than the first eight months of the year in 2022 when 579 permits with a construction value of $114.6 million were issued.
