A new collective bargaining agreement between the cleaners with Loyalist College and Compass Group Canada has been ratified.
According to the union representing the cleaners, the new two-year CBA will see an increase of 21.3% in wages over two years, strong protection against sub-contracting, wage protection language against inflation, and improvements to the workers’ pension plan.
The cleaners had been working without a contract since December 2022 and had approved a strike on August 15. The strike is now avoided thanks to the ratification of the new deal which took place on August 24.
More than 30 members are impacted by the new deal.
