A large multi-million dollar tourist resort development is being proposed in Quinte West.
MAC 5 Corporation, whose principal is Arnold MacLaughlan, has applied for an Official Plan Amendment for 8.7 hectares (21.5 acres) on the bayshore along Old Highway 2 three kilometres west of Belleville.
The concept plan calls for a 75 room hotel, another 75 in a boutique inn, and 50 small cabins. There would also be a restaurant and lounge, a spa, and market and events space.
The property currently has a vacant house, a seasonal residence, a barn, and a shed.
The owners of a neighboring property have objected to the proposal saying it doesn’t fit in with what should be a settlement area.
Further reports on the plans will come before Quinte West’s planning committee in the future.
