Belleville police responded to 221 calls for service between 5 a.m. on August 11, 2023 and 5 a.m. on August 14, 2023.
Suspended Driver and No Insurance
On August 11, 2023 at 8 a.m., an officer performing traffic enforcement stopped a truck on Dundas Street West. The driver was determined to be a suspended driver and the truck had no valid contract of insurance. The owner of the truck was also on scene and it was learned that the owner knew the vehicle was being driven without insurance. As a result of the investigation, the 27-year-old driver was charged with driving while suspended. The 27-year-old vehicle owner was charged with being the owner and allowing operation without valid insurance. Both were given September 2023 traffic court dates and the vehicle was held for a 45-day impoundment.
Arrested on Warrants
On August 11, 2023 at 5:06 p.m., Belleville police attended a business on Bell Blvd. regarding a female who had been arrested by staff for shoplifting. The female had been observed cutting tags off merchandise. Officers arrived and confirmed that the female was currently wanted on two outstanding warrants for failing to attend court. She was cautioned for theft and trespassed from the business. The 23-year-old from Belleville was held on the strength of the warrants for a bail hearing.
