These are desperate times for a local food bank and that translates into tough times for many in the community.
Inflation, lack of government and community support through donations, along with rising food prices and an increasing number of clients have caused a crisis at the Trenton Care and Share Food Bank.
That combination has caused a “perfect storm” for the food bank which has had to spend more than $20,000 a month to buy food to fill empty shelves for its clients.
Year over year the number of people using its services has almost doubled and donations are lagging.
The Trenton Care and Share Food bank is issuing a call for action to the community asking for more donations of food and/or financial support.
The food bank is located at 30 Pelham Street. Information on the food bank and on how to donate can be found here.
