Northumberland OPP are investigating after a drowning incident in Lake Ontario off the pier in the Town of Cobourg.
On Saturday at 4 p.m., police received a call about a person in the water on the east side of the pier who needed help.
The person had gone under the surface of the water and had not come back up.
A search of the surrounding water was conducted by Cobourg Police Service, Fire, and the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Center. During the search they found a 25-year-old Scarborough man who was transported to hospital.
The man was declared deceased at the hospital.
